The successful applicant will cover research and teaching in the field of Latin American history. Their teaching responsibilities will be divided equally between the Institute for Latin American Studies and the Department of History and Cultural Studies.

University Professor of Latin American History

Requirements:
- A doctoral degree graded at least “very good” and additional academic qualifications and achievements (as defined under Section 100.2 BerlHG) in the field of history.
- International and interdisciplinary teaching experience at the university level.
- A distinguished research and publication portfolio in the field of Latin American (Hispanic American and Brazilian) history.
- Experience in acquiring and leading externally funded research projects.
- Broad regional expertise and research experience with regard to Latin America, including time spent on the continent.
- Excellent knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese and English.

Expectations:
Along with the regular official duties of professors listed in Section 99 BerlHG, we expect the appointee to engage in the following activities:
- Teach in the degree programs offered at the Institute for Latin American Studies and the Friedrich Meinecke Institute.
- Cooperate with and initiate interdisciplinary partnership projects carried out at these institutes and help acquire additional interdisciplinary research projects funded by third parties.
- Incorporate global history and transregional topics into their research and teaching.
- Systematically integrate gender perspectives in their research and teaching.
- Participate in internationalization measures at Freie Universität Berlin by contributing to joint international research projects related to Latin America.
- Improve their German language skills, if necessary, within an appropriate period from the date of employment so that they can offer courses in the language.

If applicable, please give information on experience in primary and secondary education, partnerships with industry, inventions/patents, and spin-offs.
